Environmental Consultancy
In addition to the training courses we offer we are also able to provide the following range of environmental consultancy
- Initial Environmental Reviews as part the ISO 14001 certification process.
- Guidance during the implementation phase of implementing an EMS including writing environmental manuals and procedures.
- Internal auditing of environmental systems
- Monitoring of air emissions
- Environmental noise surveys
Comprehensive Environmental Audit
The audit will identify those strategic and operational activities within an organisation designed to manage environmental performance, assess compliance with environmental legislation and provide a prioritised list of improvements.
The audit methodology includes a review of relevant documentation and records, interviews with a selection of personnel and a tour of the site to observe current working practices. The audit report consists of an executive summary highlighting the key findings, a description of the methodology used, the key findings including photographs where appropriate and a list of recommendations. These recommendations are presented in order of priority starting with those that should be addressed as a matter of urgency if legislative compliance is to be assured, down to those, that if implemented, will improve the management of environmental aspects.
The results of the audit can be used to improve environmental performance or as the starting point for planning and implementing a certified EMS.
Environmental Adviser Service
This service is designed for smaller organisations to assist them manage their environmental aspects. For an annual fee an environmental audit is carried out and report produced that can form the basis of an environmental action plan. The service allows participating companies to buy additional consultancy days at a discounted fee to enable them to make the necessary improvements. The assigned adviser can be used in a number of ways including to:
- write and implement environmental procedures
- offer advice on specific issues such as waste, emissions and energy efficiency
- carry out awareness training sessions
- incident investigation
- liaison with enforcing authorities such as the Environment Agency or local authority
- carry out internal audits of the EMS including legal compliance
Retained Consultancy
For larger companies we offer the Retained Consultancy Service where, by paying a quarterly fee in advance for an agreed number of days over a twelve month period, environmental consultancy work can be undertaken at a discounted fee.
This can be used to provide regular visits to the company to help implement improvements over a period of time, help to devise a documented environmental management system or to provide additional back-up to enable advice and help to be provided when it is required. Charges are calculated by the amount of time spent visiting the site or dealing with an issue. While the Company would be expected to manage its own environmental issues, the retained Consultancy Service enables independent and competent advice to be provided to ensure best practice is employed.
